American Idol News: The Ryan Seacrest - Simon Cowell love/hate relationship
If you were to go back and look through the American Idol archives, you would certainly find many clips where Simon Cowell and Ryan Seacrest have verbal confrontations, live on stage. Sometimes this banter seems to borderline, then crosses over to something even more.
When things get sticky between Seacrest and Cowell, it’s not about some contrived ploy to add extra drama to the show. There really is a love/hate relationship between Seacrest and Cowell, that no one can really pin down exactly.
This is just one of many examples of how Ryan tries to keep Simon in line.
There are many more You Tube clips of different instances, like this one.
It would seem that Ryan Seacrest will bait Cowell the most, when Simon is being less than objective, turning his critiques into his personal attacks on a contestant’s performance, or dress, or looks, or song choice, etc.
Needless to even say: Simon Cowell can be ruthless and unforgiving in his own unique brand of “live” judgements about someone, in front of millions of viewers. I am surprised that more performers simply don’t tell Cowell, to go to hell.
Seacrest will usually attempt to deflate Cowell’s commentary when it’s scathing, by roasting Simon in front of the audience. This usually will bring the American Idol show, back into a real focus. After all, this is a competition. Cowell is a judge, not the hangman.
Let’s face it. If Cowell does not like a performer, he makes it a personal project to drum them off the show. Why else would Simon tell the contestants that he likes, “I like you. Blah, blah, blah..”? We all know that if Simon likes you, he’s going to pull you through to the top.
Simon Cowell is the American Idol judge that we all love to hate. Yet, millions will still vote for who Cowell wants off the show. It’s just a fact. Look at the votes!
Ryan Seacrest might be the only person on American Idol to have the nerve to directly confront Cowell and bring him down a few notches. Does Seacrest even like Simon Cowell?
If you look at past interviews with Ryan Seacrest about American Idol, the question always comes around to his relationship with Simon Cowell. Seacrest has always said, the two of them are good friends, professional friends, etc.
Ryan is a nice guy, plain and simple. He has stated, that most of us don’t understand Cowell. That Simon really doesn’t mean any harm with his comments. It’s as if, Cowell is self-deluded. What comes out of his mouth can really hurt the American Idol performers. Simon simply says, that he tells it like it is.
Can we expect Ryan Seacrest, to keep trying to keep Cowell’s comments from personally damaging the Idol hopefuls dreams this season?
So far, Seacrest is still in rare form, calling out Cowell’s personal attacks. I think it’s safe to say the Ryan is still fighting for truth and justice, in this American Idol season.
This article is very subjective. Many viewers love Simon Cowell for his outspoken sense of justice. Yet, when Ryan Seacrest calls Cowell out on national TV, there is usually a good reason for it.
